The outer shell is a frosted, weather rated material designed to diffuse the LED light softly while holding up to rain, snow, and sun exposure. Inside is a sealed LED unit and a rechargeable battery.
If your space gets decent direct sun during the day, go solar for a truly set-it-and-forget-it experience. If your patio is shaded or you want full control over when it's on, the USB rechargeable version is the better pick.
